Sports swimming in Czechoslovakia 1918-1938
Tomšová, Petra ; Waic, Marek (advisor) ; Kasper, Tomáš (referee)
The dissertation deals with sport swimming in the Czech lands and in Czechoslovakia in the interwar period, specifically in the period of the so-called First Republic. However, the work dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, when the first, especially river, swimming pools began to be established in our territory, which were first used for swimming training of soldiers, and only at the end of the 19th century did the general public learn to swim and there are also the first swimming competitions. The greatest development of sport swimming in our territory occurred only after the First World War, when the Czechoslovak Amateur Swimming Association was founded and it sought maximum organizational, financial and material support for swimming. Our swimmers achieved the best swimming performances in the 1920s, when they were able to compete with the European swimming powers. However, they did not have the world's top swimming, which was also seen at the Olympic Games in 1920, 1924, 1928 and 1936. In the early 1930s, the performance of our swimmers began to stagnate, which could be attributed to the fact that in other countries swimming was supported in all respects, but this was not the case in the Czechoslovak Republic, from the very beginning of sport swimming in our territory. Secretly ordained bishops in the 2nd half of the 20th century. An example of the life and work of bishop Kajetán Matoušek
Šustr, Vratislav ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Koura, Petr (referee)
This thesis focuses on the life of the secretly consecrated Roman Catholic bishop Kajetán Matoušek. The author will try to compare Matoušek's life and career to the fate and work of other secretly consecrated Roman Catholic bishops who were ordained in the same historical period and served in the Prague archdiocese. The bishops are Ladislav Hlad, ThLic. Karel Otčenášek, PaedDr. and František Cardinal Tomášek. The comparison of K. Matoušek's life to the life of others is based on their individual life stages and milestones, such as childhood, studies, or motivation to become a priest, as well as the circumstances of the secret ordination. Preserved materials about the above-mentioned bishops stored in Archiv bezpečnostních složek (Security Services Archive) were used for this thesis as well as the materials found in the Archives of the Prague Archbishopric, where are stored mainly official materials. An equally important source of information is a family archive of the Novotný family, which was related to Bishop Matoušek (the Matoušek family's male line died out with Bishop Matoušek himself), from which many photographs, but also other materials analyzed in this thesis were obtained. Finally, the so-called second parish records of the St. Adalbert parish in the New Town of Prague are considered. The...

Urešová, Jana ; Kindl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
The issue of Jewish minorities especially during the time of WW2 was discussed many times already. In a number of sources is relatively accurately captured the political situation and the gradual elimination of Jews from society, not to mention the persecution itself. This topic has me wondering about since I was about Jews and World War 2 learned. Already in elementary school I was reading children's encyclopedias most this topic and still could not understand how something like this could happen. What I got older, the more information I investigated, but still without understanding the causes why the Jews, whom you made that had so cruelly ended, and again and again the same question, how is it possible that this could happen in the recent past? ? Thesis Theme for me was clear because of that. I had quite a lot of information about Jewish life during the war, but I did not know too much about their origin and especially fascinated by the origins of their control what circumstances preceded the war. As a basis for a complete understanding of all contexts, in my opinion, necessary to start from the beginning. Who are the Jews, where they were married, where they came from, who they were, what they ate and how they are treated as a minority. After finding this information, for me it...

TITLE: Sudeten-German Nationalist Sports Associations and Czech State in the years 1918-1938 ABSTRACT: This dissertation deals with activities of Sudeten-German sports associations which had an negative approach towards the state. Their activities regularly provoked reactions from the state authorities and so it is possible to track down a whole genesis of mutual relations between the Czech state and individual associations in the archives. Among the most important sports associations was DTV Union. This union played an important part in the history of interwar Czechoslovakia, not only in the field of sport but also in the political sphere. Many top leaders of Sudeten-German political representation came from its ranks. Among the most famous Konrad Henlein, Karl Hermann Frank, Walter Brand and many others. Apart from DTV Union this dissertation also describes the most militant Sudeten-German sports association Volksport, which in that time became a synonym for the threat of rising Nacizm. The activities of Sudeten-German negative oriented sports associations had a significant influence on the course of events in Czechoslovak state in the second half of the 1930's and their anti-Czech attitudes culminated during the year 1938 and especially during the period of Munich Agreement.
